Fourth-place finish in Wieland Winternationals prelim at Ocala

Ricky Thornton Jr. returned to action with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series this past week, kicking off the Wieland Winternationals week at Ocala Speedway with Wednesday’s preliminary event.

After a 10th-place finish on Wednesday, Thornton found his stride on Thursday. He followed a third-place run in his heat race with an impressive charge from 10th to fourth in the 40-lap feature, finishing behind Hudson O’Neal, Devin Moran, and Kyle Bronson, with Tim McCreadie rounding out the top five.

Following Friday’s rainout, Thornton wrapped up the week with a ninth-place finish in Saturday’s $25,000-to-win finale.
