Owens sixth in North/South 100 prelim at Florence Speedway
Poised for the biggest Dirt Late Model weekend in Kentucky, Jimmy Owens was one of 51 Super Late Models checked in with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Florence Speedway (Walton, Ky.) for the 43rd-annual Sunoco North/South 100.
Owens had his best outing on opening night as he charged from 13th-to-6th in his $6,000-to-win preliminary feature. Jimmy finished 11th in a prelim on Friday.
With $75,000 on the line Saturday, Owens grabbed the final transfer spot in his heat race, but was an early retiree in the 100-lap finale. He was scored 25th.
