Owens picks up opening night victory at Duck River Raceway Park with HTF Series

Back behind the wheel of the Koehler Motorsports No. 20 machine, Jimmy Owens was one of 32 Super Late Models at Duck River Raceway Park (Shelbyville, Tenn.) for the two-day Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series show.

Owens qualified sixth-quickest in his group before finishing second in his heat race which put him on the fourth-row for the opening night feature. Charging towards the front, Jimmy ran second until the final restart where he powered to the lead on the bottom and picked up the $8,000 payday. He outran Dale McDowell and Zack Mitchell for his fifth-series victory.

Looking for the weekend sweep, Jimmy started fourth in the 75-lap, $15,000-to-win finale and was running inside the Top-5 when a mechanical issues sidelined him for the remainder of the evening. He was scored 20th.

Owens now has full control of the points lead with the HTFSDS.

Full results from the weekend can be found at www.HTFSeries.com.
