RTJ visits Smoky Mountain Speedway for WoO's Tennessee Tipoff

Despite adverse weather conditions leading to the cancellation of Saturday's main event, Ricky Thornton Jr. was able to get one race in over the weekend with the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series-sanctioned Tennessee Tipoff at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.).

Joining 44 Super Late Model entries, Thornton followed up an eighth-to-fifth showing in his heat with a second-place finish in his B-Main. With a $12,000 payday up for grabs in Friday’s preliminary, Ricky clawed forward six positions to place 14th.

Saturday’s Tennessee Tipoff finale was cancelled due to severe weather threatening the area.
