Owens secures podium finish in Spring Thaw finale at Volunteer Speedway
Visiting one of his home tracks, Jimmy Owens unloaded his Koehler Motorsports No. 20 at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) on Saturday afternoon for the first night of the Spring Thaw with the XR Super Series.
With 34 Late Models checked in, Owens finished second in his heat race and started seventh in the $30,000-to-win main event. Running inside the Top-10, Owens got caught up in a three-car tangle and was only able to salvage a 16th-place finish.
Hoping for better luck on Sunday afternoon, Jimmy was victorious in his heat race which earned him a second-row starting spot in the $12,000-to-win show. Making up one spot on a rubbered up racetrack, Owens squeezed out a podium finish behind Mike Marlar and Devin Moran.
