Owens fifth in Winter Nationals event at All-Tech Raceway

On Tuesday afternoon, Jimmy Owens returned to Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series with the Koehler Motorsports crew at Ocala (Fla.) Speedway for the first night of the Winter Nationals.

Stacking up eighth-quickest in his qualifying group, Owens fell backwards in his heat race but was able to nab the final transfer spot in his B-Main. For the $10,000-to-win main event, Jimmy climbed from the 11th-row to finish just outside the Top-10 in 12th.

With the field elevated to 43 entries on Wednesday, Owens lined up on the front row of his heat race but recorded a ninth-place finish after making contact with another competitor on the opening lap. Being buried in a B-Main, Jimmy and his team loaded up early.

Following the series to All-Tech Raceway (Lake City, Fla.) on Friday afternoon, Jimmy earned quicktime honors in qualifying and followed that up with a convincing heat race victory. For the $12,000-to-win feature, Owens fell back to ninth early but rallied to finish inside the Top-5 in fifth.

For the week's $15,000-to-win finale, Owens grabbed the final transfer spot in his heat and ran 12th in the 50-lap main event.
