Jimmy Owens sixth in Lucas Oil opener at Golden Isles Speedway
Jimmy Owens invaded Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Ga.) on Thursday afternoon for the Super Bowl of Racing with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
Drawing 51 Late Models to the track, Owens clocked in second-fastest in his group before winning his heat race. Rolling off third in the $12,000-to-win feature, Jimmy faded just outside the Top-5 to finish sixth after 40-laps.
Losing Friday's event to heavy rain showers, Jimmy returned to the seat on Saturday evening for the $25,000-to-win finale. With another heat race victory securing a second-row starting spot, Owens fell outside the Top-10 just past halfway and pulled off with 20 laps remaining to finish 27th.
