Koehler Motorsports begin 2024 season with Jimmy Owens at Sunshine Nationals
Jimmy Owens and the Koehler Motorsports team opened up their 2024 season at Volusia Speedway Park (De Leon Springs, Fla.) on Friday afternoon for the DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals opener after Thursday's event fell to heavy rain storms.
In a stacked field of 56 World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series entries, Owens fell in his heat race before grabbing the final transfer spot in his Last Chance Showdown. Starting towards the rear of the field in the feature, Jimmy recorded a 26th-place finish.
For Saturday's $15,000-to-win finale, Jimmy earned a spot in the feature after winning the second Last Chance Showdown. Rolling off from the 10th-row, Owens was an early retiree on lap 34 and was scored in 25th.
