Owens lands Top-10 finish in Dirt Track World Championship at Eldora Speedway
Jimmy Owens joined 61 other competitors at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Friday afternoon as the half-mile oval hosted the opening round of the 43rd running of the Lucas Dirt-sanctioned Dirt Track World Championship.
After Friday’s program was delayed to Saturday due to continuous rain, series’ and track officials made the decision to shift heat races scheduled for Saturday to Sunday with hopes for better track conditions.
Topping the charts in yesterday's qualifying session, Owens went on to secure a position in the 100-lap A-Main after finishing second in his heat race. Despite a visit to the hot pit, Jimmy was able to come back through the field before pulling off once again with just 11 laps remaining. With only six competitors finishing the event, Owens was rewarded with a seventh-place finish.
