Owens runner-up in Night One of Southern Showcase at Swainsboro Raceway
Traveling back South after a weekend with the Outlaws, the Koehler Motorsports crew and their driver Jimmy Owens unloaded at Swainsboro (Ga.) Raceway for the two-day Southern Showcase with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series.
Topping the charts in his qualifying group, Owens drew the No. 1 in the redraw and would sit on the pole of the 30-lap main event. Leading 29-laps in the $5,000-to-win feature, Jimmy was nipped at the line by Ashton Winger which relegated him to a runner-up finish.
With the field elevated to 34 Super Late Models on Saturday, Owens grabbed the final transfer spot in his heat race which earned him a starting position on the seventh-row. In the extended 60-lap feature, Jimmy moved forward eight positions to land inside the Top-10 in sixth.
