Owens ninth in Mountain Moonshine Classic at Smoky Mtn.
Friday afternoon saw Jimmy Owens follow the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series to Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) for the Mountain Moonshine Classic.
With 44 Late Models in the pit area, Owens qualified 11th-fastest which earned him a sixth-row starting spot in the main event. For the $5,000-to-win Group A feature, Jimmy gained six positions to collect a Top-5 outing.
For Saturday's finale, Jimmy earned the ninth-place starting position in the main event after picking up the win in his heat. For the $50,000-to-win Mountain Moonshine Classic, Owens raced inside the Top-10 for the majority of the 60-lap feature and wound up ninth at the checkers.
Jimmy currently sits 12th in LOLMDS point standings.
