Owens scores Top-5 in Spring Shootout at FALS
Jimmy Owens followed the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series to the Land of Lincoln on Friday afternoon for the Farmer City 74 at Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.).
Following the fifth-quickest lap in his qualifying group, Owens gained two positions in his heat race to earn the pole position for the 60-lap main event. A brief rain shower during consolation races forced officials to postpone the 74-lap feature to May 15th.
The following evening at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.), Jimmy topped his qualifying group before finishing runner-up in his heat race. Rolling off sixth in the 60-lap FALS Spring Shootout, Owens battled inside the Top-10 and landed a fifth-place outing.
Returning to Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) on Monday afternoon to finish the remainder of the Farmer City 74, Jimmy sat on the pole for the 74-lap main event and battled inside the Top-5 for the $25,000-to-win feature before finishing just outside the Top-5 in sixth.
