LOLMDS Action Takes Owens to East Bay Raceway Park

Jimmy Owens and Koehler Motorsports invaded East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Fla.) on Wednesday night for the 47th annual Weiland Winter Nationals presented by Lucas Oil.

The $7,000-to-win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) event drew 65 entries. A third-place finish moved Owens into the main event, where he ultimately finished 16th.

Competition continued on Thursday night as Owens enjoyed his best run of the season with an 18th-to-sixth charge in the $10,000-to-win feature. He crossed the finish line behind Hudson O'Neal, Max Blair, Dennis Erb Jr., and Tim McCreadie.

Friday's action saw 62 entries registered for battle. Jimmy started the night with speed, qualifying eighth fastest in his group. On the heels of a third-place finish in his heat race he made his way into the feature in the 10th-starting position. Unfortunately, while running in the Top 10 he was collected in a multi-car melee during the race's early stages. The ensuing damage resulted in a 25th-place finish.
