Thornton opens Lucas Oil season at All-Tech Raceway
Ricky Thornton Jr. and the Koehler Motorsports team joined a 35-car field at All-Tech Raceway this past weekend as the Florida oval hosted the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) season opener.
Thornton kicked off the three-night Wieland Winternationals with a 14th-place finish on Thursday before turning in a strong rebound on Friday. After transferring into the feature through his B-Main, he charged forward 11 positions in the 35-lap main event to secure a seventh-place finish.
Saturday’s program took a turn during time trials when contact with the wall hampered the team’s momentum for the evening. Thornton utilized a provisional starting spot in the $15,000-to-win finale and ultimately recorded an 18th-place finish.
