Ricky Thornton Jr. Triumphs in Jackson 100 at Brownstown Speedway
$50,000 Payday Marks 24th Win of 2025 Season
MOUNT AIRY, N.C. (09/29/25) – For the second time in his career, Ricky Thornton Jr. emerged victorious in the prestigious Jackson 100 at Brownstown Speedway, piloting the Ultimate Towing & Recovery / Elite Ready Mix / Coltman Farms Racing / Hoker Trucking No. 20RT Longhorn Chassis Late Model.
Saturday’s $50,000 triumph marked Thornton’s 24th win of the 2025 season and the 56th Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) victory of his career.
“I felt like I needed to go way before that,” Thornton said. “I felt like me and Terbo ran door-to-door for 20 to 25 laps, and it's nice to know you can race a car super hard like that, and he gives you plenty of room. I didn’t know what happened there with Devin and JD; it looked like they both were just kind of going to the bottom and made a little contact, and JD went around. Obviously, you don’t ever want to see that with a championship competitor like that, but luckily for us, it was one really good car we didn’t have to worry about after that.”
The 47th annual Jackson 100 doubleheader weekend began with Thornton earning a fourth-place finish in Friday’s 40-lap preliminary.
On Saturday, he edged out pole-sitter Brandon Sheppard to win his eight-lap heat race. The feature proved to be a rollercoaster, with Thornton fading early in the 100-lapper before muscling his way back to the front. He took the lead from Devin Moran and held him off over the final 24 laps to secure the six-figure paycheck.
Thornton now holds an 80-point advantage over Moran in the latest LOLMDS championship standings.

Thornton resumes Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) competition this weekend as Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway plays host to the 37th annual Pittsburgher. The weekend opens with a $10,000-to-win preliminary on Friday, followed by Saturday’s $50,000-to-win main event.
